Liverpools super cool Indigo Moon and their new, 3-track EP 'Anatomy'

ANATOMY
We've been waiting for this to drop for a while, we've followed Indigo Moon for a couple of years now and as massive fans of their debut EP and their live show, this has been in our cross-hairs since it's announcement a few months ago.
We've always had Indigo Moon down as a largely psych-rock driven band, they use it in their own description, their formidable live set is often a psychedelic journey and their previous releases fit that description too. On 'Anatomy', Indigo Moon break out of that box with vocalist Ash' honest, minimally effected vocal proving to be way too massive to be drowned out with dream-pop reverb as well as big shtankin' blues riffs muscling up the whole sound. Indigo Moon stay true to their dreamy psych side with the rhythm section providing a shimmering undercurrent to each track. The three tracks have clearly been careful crafted and considered.
'Pieces' is the most immediate track on the album, a fine choice for the opener, it grabs you upon first listen as the quintet show you all the shiny wares it has to offer: BIG riffs, enviably smooth vocals and a razor sharp rhythm section that has it's art on point.
'Circulation' is the wild-card BITCHES! It's structure is far from standard with the band taking you in several different directions throughout the track, building to a crescendo and then cascading back into calm more than once before the band hit you with their special move 'THEBIGDIRTYRIFFVOCALHOOKTHUNDERDRUMBUZZBASECOMBO'. My personal favourite this. One that I slapped straight onto my 'Favourite Noobs' Spotify playlist.
'Xin'. Oh my word, have I just walked into a high class, velvet laden piano bar in a 70's smut film? This track couldn't be more sultry if it had it's stocking clad legs open. It starts off as delicate as Julee Cruise's 'Falling' (the Twin Peaks theme tune, check it out) then it leads into a clattering climax that sums up the EP's meandering unpredictability. Songwriting level: EXPERT.
'Anatomy' shows a whole new, powerful side to Indigo Moon, a massive step up to their sound which could well push them into the ears of national press and radio.

After a couple of listens one thing grabbed me, hard where it feels good, track 2, 'Circulation' builds to a huge crescendo with the drums hammering along, Ash' vocal seemingly getting even mightier and then all of a sudden everything just drops and the most mischievously audacious riff swaggers along for about 15 seconds before Ash belts out 'IT'S A CIRCLE VICIOUS CIRCUUUUUUUL' and I'm all like, okay then, 1000 points to you Indigo Moon. You win a massive stuffed toy and a years free supply of my affection.
Feedback
I've thoroughly enjoyed this EP and I would like to see the band keep this current direction with subtle psych and a big pop vibe. The band clearly have nailed their 'delicate to dirty' dynamic and I would like to hear more of this.
The biggest hooks on the EP come from the riffs and the smooth, flowing vocal in 'Xin'. I'd love to hear Indigo Moon shamelessly slam out an annoyingly catchy earworm, I reckon they would nail from what I've heard here.
Artwork
A glitched heart that looks as if it is about to fuzz out of the frame. A perfect image for how 'Anatomy' almost feels like it is going to burst from your speakers at several points.
