Description
Rip This Joint is a not-for-profit alternative DIY collective comprised of members of various bands, photographers, artists and all round enthusiasts of self-sufficiency.
RTJ are not promoters, RTJ are not blood-sucking capitalists and they’re not the saviours of live music. Any money raised on the door or through the sales of anything they put our names to goes direct to the people who provide the entertainment. RTJ don’t make a penny, they're just the people trying to tie things together and introduce you to something new and entertaining.
Having taken a short break from putting on shows RTJ are now back in business with a night every 3rd Saturday of the month at The Hope And Anchor, plus extra gigs at The Black Heart, The Constitution, The Windmill and anywhere else that'll have them. They've also got themselves a new team together to move things forward and continue to support an ever growing community of amazing underground DIY bands in London and beyond.
RTJ and Yeah Buddy! vehemently encourage you to check out some of the bands who have played RTJ nights previously and let them know if you like what they do! Hopefully more and more people will get involved in putting on shows, putting out records, hosting exhibitions, organising events. RTJ might not change the world but at least they'll all meet some good people.

Location
RTJ operate in the big smoke at vernues such as The Hope And Anchor, The Black Heart, The Constitution, The Windmill and anywhere else that'll have them.
Band Requirements
There's no real requirements, only to try to sort out gear share before hand, to be nice to people and to make an effort as to watching other bands perform (we're not nazis, so if you fucking hate it 3 songs into their set then go have a smoke or whatever).
Final requirement, don't be a dick. RTJ will tell you to fuck off and never invite you back. They'll spread the word too, if you're a real cunt!

Booking Terms
RTJ ask London bands to come down to shows and talk to us instead of emailing to ask for shows. If you wanna play an RTJ night, then get involved with the community spirit and dig the shows.
All money made on the door will be used to pay the bands, with most the chunk going to the touring or traveling band(s) if any. Otherwise RTJ split the money more or less evenly between the bands (maybe we'll give a little more to the band that supplied most of the gear, for petrol etc...).

Band Benefits
The benefits of playing Rip This Joint are rather simple; you will play in front of a receptive audience, they will treat you nicely and put you up if you're on tour, and you'll get to play with like-minded bands and probably get to meet some cool like-minded people. Rip this joint is first and foremost a creative platform which encourages interaction.
