Bio
Vasa are an instrumental post rock quartet from Glasgow. Since forming in October 2011 they've been making waves in the Scottish music scene and beyond, catching attention with their own sublime brand of melodic, guitar-driven rock and a series of charged live shows across the country. They've played tours across the UK and Europe as well as a slot at ArcTanGent festival in 2015. Their rich sound and soaring instrumental style has seen them compared to the likes of Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Sigur Rós.
After receiving airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Radio Scotland and being tipped as one of the bands to watch in 2012, they released their first E.P 'Never Have Dreams' through Overlook Records in December. Described as “one of the finest debuts in the post-rock genre in quite some time“ the record combines soaringly atmospheric soundscapes and bursts of frantic energy to exceptional effect. The critically acclaimed release underlined Vasa's status as one of the most exciting young bands in Scotland.
2013 saw Vasa play T in the Park and Wickerman Festival along with a 10 date tour of England whilst also sharing a stage with bands such as Deafheaven, TTNG, Nordic Giants, Axes and Alarm Bells.
2014 brought yet more festival slots as Vasa played Blackfriars as part of GoNorth Festival as well as releasing their double-A side single "Not A Cop" alongside their first music video for the title track and, furthermore, completing a 2 week back-to-back UK tour with Brighton prog-rock band Shrine.
2015 has been their biggest year yet with UK and Euopean tours completed, a triumphant slot at ArcTanGent festival and the release of their debut album 'Colours' to tremendous critical acclaim and a massive fan response.
