This Saturday a mass of support will congregate outside of one of Liverpool's legendary music venues The Lomax. In a show of strength against what looks to be a harsh potential closure of the venue, supporters will gather in a peaceful show of love and respect to one of the strongholds of Merseyside's music community.
Before I blabber on, here's you're 'get to the point' skip; We are basically imploring you to go on down to the Lomax Saturday and show your respect to what is a mighty fine, all welcoming, and vital component to the city's music scene.
Now for those of you who seen my status last Saturday you will know that this is a situation that I am quite concerned about.
The Lomax was the place where we launched Circuit Scene Promotions, hosting many fantastic shows with a ton of great bands including Doppelganger, Dirty Bernard, Exit International, Enamel Animal, Evoss, Castovalva, Red Sails, Sea Witches, Springbok and tons of others. We had so many great times and great memories from there and never found ourselves unsupported by the epically passionate Frank. If it wasn't for The Lomax Yeah Buddy! would not be what it is today, having spawned from Circuit Scene, we still recommend any band looking for a show to ask the Lomax as they are without doubt the most welcoming venue in the city.
The Lomax will welcome bands from far and wide at all stages of their career, they don't ask for ticket sales or for money, all they ask is that you are sound and you put on a great show. This is an extremely rare attitude to have and it makes The Lomax pivotal to Liverpool being a stop off for up and coming touring bands. By the same means, it is a vital haven for local bands who find themselves nurtured by this genuine, music loving community that expects nothing in return.
The Lomax is a scene of its own, it's a community and a family. So many people showing their support to Frank, Jo and Kathryn have repeated what have become Lomax catchphrases 'like minded idiots' and 'all fucking day'. Well all the like minded idiots can keep up this brilliant show of support all fucking day.
Head down to the Lomax this Saturday and meet with a host of other folk to regale each other with tales of Lomax fun. Just remember to be sensible and respectful, it is a show of support not a march or a protest.
Viva Los Lomax
