- What are we talking about!?
Liverpool's or more specifically 'The Baltic Triangles' 3 day arts & music fest. Like a Ron Jeremy classic, Threshold has seen huge growth over the past number of years, adding more and more creative devices to its ample arsenal. This year the epic poster shows (and I counted) 252 artists, bands and D.J's, did I say EPIC!
- Why Go?
£20 for a weekend pass to see hundreds of acts across multiple stages, you really aren't going to get much better value for money, lets face it.
Here is a break down of some calculations I did to work out just how good the value of Threshold Festival is;
- £20 for 3 days equals £6.66 a day, with a standard gig in town coming in at around £5 for up to 5 bands you really can't complain when the 252 acts split between 3 days averages at 84 acts a day!
- 12 venues come into play at Threshold (including one ominously titled 'Secret Location') so you are looking at £1.66 a venue!!! Are you kidding me right now!? It costs £5 to get into Heebie Jeebies or The K.
- £20 for 252 acts sees punters coughing up a massive 7 pence per act. WOW! When you consider S Club 7 are charging £40 for their performance at the Echo Arena things are really put into perspective. You can't even get 8 penny things for 7p, FUCK!
- Added up across the 3 days, there are 26 individual 'shows' coming in at 76p a show, £4.24 below the average
- Totting up all of these individual savings, the Yeah Buddy! super calculator has worked out that in total across the weekend punters will be saving a total of £236.96, incredible scenes, you could buy over 4 coffee machines or a half decent second hand guitar with that.
*The Yeah Buddy! super calculator may have proved faulty in the past but it will not be questioned this time around so we refuse to answer any contention or complaint on the above calculation.
- YB!'s Pick of the Bands
Well this is a tough one with so many acts piling down to the festival over the weekend. The amount of YB! affiliates involved are plentiful, here is a list of those guys, who we recommend wholeheartedly (our thumbs up is the only way bands get onto the site);
Blood Lips, Singapore Strategy, Sheepy, Filter Distortion, Natalie McCool, Pocket Apocalypse, Dominic Dunn, Joe Symes & The Loving Kind, Police Squad, Bolshy, Broken 3 Ways & Detuned Radio. All fantastic acts.
There are still acts that we would recommend outside of YB!'s family though, here is a selection of those;
Jazzhands, Taws, Broken Men, Elevant, Sea Witches, Vynce, Nubiyan Twist, Michael Bennett, Super Fast Girle Show
- Key Venues and Stages
Well out of the 26 shows and various other activities that will happen over the weekend the following 3 shows stick out to us the most;
3. Mellowtone @ Constellations
Liverpool's resident mood-soothers bring a host of chilled out acts and D.J's for Sunday afternoon at one of Liverpool's newest and most intriguing venues Constellations. (Me and Deboe have been recommended to us)

2. Antipop hosting The Garage Stage @ District
Liverpool's resident rabble-rousers have 4 of the cities radical and most diverse acts, 2 of them are YB! affiliates, 2 of them will be if we have our way, all 4 have unmissable live shows

1. Monster Sound Collective's 'Versus' @ Blade Factory
Liverpool's resident math masters are bringing one of the most unique and fresh ideas for a show that I have ever seen. 2 stages at once with 1 band on each stage, each band will take a turn to play a song. Sounds mental right, I've bore witness to a good number of MSC shows, I know how thorough they are and I know they can pull this off. 3 battles overall with 6 brilliant bands, you'd be dumb to miss it.

- Line From The Organizers
Can't get more clear and concise than this PR line from the organizers;
"It's our proudest moment in our 5 year history"
They should be very very proud, what they've created is something extremely special
