'Get yourself a booker who believes in the band'
We spoke to Remi & Jean, The Algorithm and their manager John of Euroblast inside ArcTanGent's much hospitable press barn. It came as a very pleasant surprise for us to be interviewing the band as they just so happened to be chilling out in the area at the time. Such is their laid-back and friendly approach, they took us up on an offer to bend their ears for a little while, no questions asked. Not so much an interview, rather us trying to jot down as much information as we could about the band who had a lot of interesting things to say. Here is what we found out;
Who Are The Algorithm?
- Remi is the writer and producer of The Algorithm, Jean is his live drummer when they go out on tours and play shows. Remi started his music career as a guitarist in a metal band when he was 17 years old, he ran with this for a few years and when they split up he decided he was not gonna let that hold him back, he began to make his own electronically produced music from that point on. Remi told us that he has always been into electronic production, he said that anyone can do it if they have enough drive and interest.
In 2009 Remi went professional, his first ever live show came in October 2011 at Euroblast Festival 7 and he was signed by Basick records...his first ever show!!! At this show there was also the fateful moment where Remi met John (who convinced him to take the project live) for the first time in person. In his first 2 years The Algorithm had released 2 free demo's that were made available for free. Check below to find material from 09/10 which is still available for free download.

What Is To Come For The Algorithm?
Now 2 albums into his career The Algorithm is working on his 3rd full-length offering. John chimed in excitedly to tell us to expect the new album in March of 2016. Remi told us that album no.3 will be more instrument oriented but will still be done in his unique style.
The Evolution Of The Algorithm
Remi has taken this project all over the world as far as Israel, Armenia and Australia, he will be going to North America on tour for the first time in October. Remi told us that he has never wanted to be 'flash in the pan' when we asked if he had noticed any particular jolt in the projects development. The Algorithm has evolved each year and with its growth more investment has been put into the project. Remi and Jean said that they were psyched to be performing at ArcTanGent festival and it would be another stage in The Algorithms development.
Priceless Advice
Remi and John offered some absolutely sparkling pearls of wisdom for those planning to take their musical ventures on the road and to the higher levels. Remi advised that when starting out to not expect to many fees but when it comes to taking higher profile shows, especially abroad, to ensure that the promoter is covering your flights and accommodation so that there is less risk for you.
John added that it is vital to get a booker who believes in the band. He said that this is one of the biggest steps you can take in order to professionalize the band. He said the next steps after that would be to move onto to bigger agencies as things progress.
Recommendations
French band Igorrr was at the top of The Algorithm's recommendations along with the instructions for us to mention Ricky Martin as it was very important. John also had mention X-Ray Touring when it comes to hard-working and trustworthy booking agents.
