- What Are We Talking About?
Brightonion 4-piece Edityourhometown's 2015 release "Suddenly... Ghosts!!!" is an absolutely maddening track, taking the "throw everything plus several kitchen sinks" approach to the indie / pop / screamo / whatever other genres they felt fit to have a crack at. It's the antithesis of cool, still it's cheeky enough to get away with it thanks to the skilful execution by the players involved. Musical Chameleons.
- Summary
A relatively seamless bit of genre mashing, clocking in at 4.21 it's a hefty slice for a single, but then again this isn't your traditional verse chorus verse chorus banger. It seems to sit nicely in the indie mathrock for the first half of the song before heading off on numerous tangents as it flies well and truly off the rails into a prog jazz oddysey.
- What Hooked Me?
Well I'm a nerd so I have to doff my cap to anyone who can pull off this level of geekiness without turning into They Might Be Giants... it even has moments of luxurious jazziness best enjoyed amongst many leather-bound books and an apartment smelling of rich mahogany.
- Key Lyric
Not really one for the lyrics, they're around, but mostly to hang the bands considerable musical dexterity off... Yeats it aint!
- Artwork
Surprisingly understated given the bombastic nature of the track, would have also been great if Ron Burgundy had been superimposed onto the black sun to give us a cheeky hint as to what lay within the track.
- Line From The Man
Following on from a successful kickstarter campaign the band are going into the studio in under 2 weeks for EP number 2. Their next show is with Mike Vennart and they'll be playing Y Not festival this summer
- Vital Info
The band have just been announced on the lineup for the rather tasty looking Y Not festival in sunny derbyshire.
