Hailing from Brighton, Bad For Lazarus are known for their eclectic sound which incorporates elements of glam, punk and psychedelic rock into chaotic and captivating tunes. ‘Bad Stallion’ follows in the vein of many a modern British indie anthem, built on simple but instantly infectious riffs and a stomping drumbeat. The song is pure fun from start to finish. The verses see catchy high-pitched ‘ooh’s incorporated into a call and response with Rich Fownes’ humorous lyrics, reminiscent of Kaiser Chiefs in their glory days. The equally catchy chorus is brought in through a seamless and highly contagious change in key, and is a sing-a-long tailor-made for sweaty gigs and festivals alike, complete with handclaps and a searing bassline. Not one moment is left to waste, the band racing through at tremendous speed, and before you know it you’re left with a piercing guitar solo courtesy of Richie Monroe which battles brutally against a cacophony of saxophone, building the song to its climactic refrain. According to evidence from Youtube this song has been road-tested for nearly a year now, and so the only question to be asked is why the hell hadn’t they released it already? An instant hit and a certain fan favourite.
