Who are we talking about?
Milo McMahon - a chilled out, tree planting troubadour hailing from Montreal, Canada. With a strong Irish heritage he’s an amalgamation of laid-back charm and visceral energy, and his music is no better example of this. At his core, he’s a singer-songwriter with a penchant for surf-rock tones and folky lyrics surrounding his passion for love, life and rural living.
What hooked me?
All or Nothing, in terms of subject matter, is typically Milo with its trouble-in-paradise-esque theme but what immediately catches your attention are the riffs Milo incorporates into the verses. They’re dripping in attitude, expertly placed and inject a charismatic, cheeky appeal to a song that essentially tackles issues of selfishness and jealousy. His voice doesn’t sound as strong as it has done on past tracks but that kind of works to match the feeling of despair running throughout the lyrics.
Key Lyric
Well Milo’s girl seems to be having a case of ‘the one that got away’ and Milo isn’t that guy. He’ll be damned if he’ll concede defeat, though, which is reflected in the repetitive line “I aint gonna share you with him”. It’s a scenario many can relate to.
Music Video
The music video that deserves credit here. First we see one fine gentleman sat on his porch in some flashy Adidas trackies, preparing for a session of Mrs. Doubtfire on video tape. Just as we are momentarily treated to one of the classic scenes in which Mrs. Doubtfire gets caught out having a piss standing up it cuts to a home video of Milo and his girlfriend. It’s worth knowing that apart from the VHS style quality and desperation in Milo’s character, it’s nothing like a sex-tape I’ve ever seen and the closest we get to sexual contact is Milo performing a few crotch thrusts into his girlfriend’s face as she idly reads a book. The video takes us through a number of humorous scenarios that see McMahon failing to capture his girlfriend’s enthusiasm, despite numerous efforts. Quite childishly, he refuses to ‘share’ the love of his girlfriend with another man, although it becomes quite apparent by the end of the video that there is no love to be offering up anyway. Milo’s acting is funny, endearing and shows he can have a bit of a laugh amongst all that dreary subject matter.

Line From The Man
We caught Milo for a quick explanation of the video, he told us; "When not on tour, I perform improv comedy at Theatre St Catherine in Montréal. I've always thought it would be fun to have my hilarious friends in a music video, so when this opportunity came up, I jumped on it. Surfing the net one day, I came across the videos of 5443, an independent production studio here in Montréal. They produce comedy shorts in VHS that look like they're from the 80s. I saw this as an opportunity to combine the worlds of music, live theatre and indie film making that are all thriving in this city. The goal was to make a video that was as fun to watch as it was to make. We had a lot of fun making it."

Yeah Buddy!'s newest contributor, Carla, is known amongst friends for her affection for music, her affinity for travel and a persistent dillusion that she can drink anyone she knows under the table, which has resulted in some cracking shame hangovers. Carla is currently focusing on passion #2 and residing in Vietnam, with plans to travel through Asia and Europe before returning to Liverpool in 2016 for a much-needed and well-missed dose of local music, food and beer. Carla even has her own travelling food blog which is pretty damn hunger inducing; https://jinjaonajourney.wordpress.com/
