If you have read any of my reviews or descriptions on this site then you'll know I'm not super clued up on the musical terminology side of things, but hey, if you wanna read about what distinct, obscure category of music something falls into then go and read 'Douchebag fanboy monthly'.
Anyway, I'm going to describe what I can of this fairly maverick and erratic little number. I think it can be placed in such categories as 'math-rock', 'prog!?' And definitely 'music'...'rock music'. Most importantly I find it a mighty bruiser of a track that you will find yourself doing all kinds of air manoeuvres to.
Pocket Apocalypse are a band that clearly labour over turning their creations into finely tuned, well oiled articles in which every instrument plays a vital part in not only being individually impactful but also in melding into each other to form an unpredictable yet fluent story.
'Hollow' is a call out to greed and selfishness. It is clear that PA have a lot of fuel for their fire and the more pieces that are put toward their debut album (this being the 2nd single) the more exciting a prospect it becomes. You can even go ahead and download 'Hollow' from Bandcamp and you can name your own price. Go see if you can pigeonhole it, but more importantly, just enjoy for the great piece of work that it is.
