- What are we talking about!?
Having honed their craft and picked up a portly following over the past few years, post-rock/prog will-be's Pocket Apocalypse are now ready to offer up their first ever full length effort.
- What Hooked Me?
Well personally as a vocalist/ lyricist myself but someone who also appreciates the whirring intricacies of prog, math and post rock music, PA's mix of the whole lot combined with their irresistible harmonies make them one of the stand-out independent bands of any of the 3 prominent genres they dabble in. I was hooked on the idea of a Pocket Apocalypse album before its inception.
- MVT (Most Valuable Track)
I'm desperately trying to look past singles 'Hollow' and 'Missing Piece', both of which YB! have swooned over in the past. It is a tough call between the title track 'Under Our Sky' and opener 'Glass'. 'Under Our Sky' bursts into an irrepressible rhythm that is hard not to instantly agree with. 'Glass' could not be a more appropriate opener for this brilliant album, it twists and turns through horror and harmony which is a theme that defines this album.
- Key Lyric
"Is this what you are? Cold, determined greed"- 'Hollow'
If you're going to start a song born from anger and frustration then what better way than to spew this rage filled line out without any ado. Lyrics don't always have to bend your mind or twist your tongue, a lot of the time clear, concise and to the point does the job perfectly
- Artwork
A very apt, apocalyptic image of a girl flying a kite in the face of a monstrous hurricane. The artwork is so important in such a throwaway, attention deficit musical culture. The album cover sets the scene and a standard by which the rest of the album is governed.
- Line From The Artist
Frontman Nick gave us this tasty morsel of info; "It's been a difficult year personally. This album represents a lot of hard work and pushing on through some pretty tough times, but we had an absolutely amazing time making it, so we're glad It's finally out in the world. We hope you like it!"
- Vital Info
'Under Our Sky' was released on 23/3/15, loads of people have praised it including many of the bands peers.
