What Are We Talking About!?
Although it was released way back in March, Saltwater Injections double A side of severe hatred toward the Conservatives and Britain's growing culture of austerity found a new lease of life after the election and the subsequent ruin of all things pure. It has found relevance again after a glimmer of light has been handed to the nations old, young, poor and sick courtesy of Jeremy Corbin. These 2 furious little ditties have never before been as relevant as they are now.
Summary
Raw, visceral, blunt yet sharp. It's as if SI are attempting to grind away the fat of Tory austerity with a meat pulveriser. Nobody can fault their sheer enthusiasm for taking the front-line charge at the injustice the vast majority of the nations vulnerable will experience over the next few years and they do it with a noisy, punk rock spear.
One of the only solaces that many of the nations alternative culture could take in the spirit-crushing election results is that there would be an influx of excellent protest songs and a marked restoration in punk rock spirit. Saltwater Injection certainly didn't waste any time.
What Hooked Me
It's hard to dodge the fact that whether you like this or not, Saltwater don't really care. They seem to be making music to unladen their anger at anyone who will listen, your enjoyment is simply an added bonus for them. Funnily enough though 'Cuntryfile's line "Cameron is a cunt, Cameron is a cunt, Cameron is a cunt, Cameron is a fucking cunt" can definitely be labelled a hook. Moreover, 'Vinegar' is pretty damn rhythmic and tuneful throughout, albeit it in the most bludgeoning way possible.
Key Lyric
Well of course it is the aforementioned hook fuelled by bile and hatred directed at our oh so ire-inducing, spam-faced leader; "Cameron is a fucking cunt"- sing it with joy, hatred, loathing and hope in your heart folks, it may just help you get through until the next election
Artwork
It is a bleeding ear accompanied with crooked and scrawled lettering. Couldn't possibly be a more fitting visual for the audio experience it accompanies.
Line From The Band
Joe from Saltwater Injection says "'Vinegar//Cuntryfile' is us setting out our stall, unleashing Saltwater Injection for the first time - February 2016 see's us release our debut E.P 'Regurgitated for The People' once again through AntiPop Records - it will make anything else you've ever heard sound like Glee."
